Day One — Arrive in Canada Arrive in Montreal today and settle into your conveniently-located hotel before meeting your Tour Manager at 6:00 p.m. for dining suggestions in this fascinating city. Day Two — Montreal Touring We embark on a narrated tour of Montreal, one of Canada’s vibrant cities known for its rich French-Canadian heritage. We’ll visit the Basilica of Notre Dame and see such historical sites as Place d’Armes, St. Joseph’s Oratory, Mount Royal and Olympic Park, site of the 1976 summer Olympics. The afternoon is free to enjoy Montreal on your own. Try a walking tour of Old Montreal with its narrow streets lined with a mixture of buildings dating from the 17th century or experience some of Montreal’s legendary shopping opportunities. This evening, we enjoy a dinner and live entertainment in true Montreal fashion. Breakfast and dinner Day Three — Ride VIA Rail to Quebec After breakfast, Canada’s VIA Rail service takes us to Quebec City. The only walled city in North America, Quebec’s Grande-Allee is alive with many quaint shops and sidewalk cafes. On our touring today we pass under the famed St. Louis Arch which leads into old Quebec. We arrive at the banks of the St. Lawrence River and Place Royale, the oldest settlement in the region. Later we see the majestic Parliament Buildings before arriving at the Plains of Abraham, the site of the famous battle of 1759. Tonight, a special Sugar Shack dinner will introduce us to Quebec’s unique culture complete with a maple syrup making tour, musical entertainment and traditional French Canadian cuisine. Breakfast and dinner Day Four — St. Anne de Beaupre and Montmorency Falls We depart this morning for a scenic drive along the “Old King’s Road” passing beautiful Normandy and Brittany homes to St. Anne de Beaupre, for a visit to the beautiful shrine, the oldest pilgrimage site in North America. Continuing on, we arrive at Manoir Montmorency, once the summer home of the Duke of Kent for a breathtaking view of Montmorency Falls. Higher than Niagara, Montmorency is Eastern Canada’s highest waterfall. Breakfast Day Five — Our Lady of the Cape Shrine Town of Trois-Rivieres is home to Canada’s National Shrine, Our Lady of the Cape. The historic chapel was built in 1714 and is one of the two oldest churches in Canada. With its magnificent stained glass windows and unique 5425 pipe Casvant organ, the shrine welcomes over 250,000 pilgrims a year. Later, we continue to Ottawa, Canada’s Capital city located on the banks of the Rideau Canal. Breakfast and dinner Day Six — Ottawa, Canada’s Capital City Today a local guide joins us for a tour of Ottawa, Canada’s stately capital with its picturesque Parliament buildings and colorful open-air marketplace. We’ll see the Canadian Mint, the residences of the Governor General and the Prime Minister as well as historic Parliament Hill. We will also see the War Memorial, the Peace Tower and the Rideau Canal before enjoying some free time to explore on your own. Perhaps you might wish to try a Beaver Tail, a delicious Canadian delicacy consisting of a fried pastry with a variety of tasty toppings. Breakfast Day Seven — Cruise Through Canada’s Thousand Islands National Park At Gananoque we board our ship for a cruise in Thousand Islands National Park. This collection of islands was known by the native peoples as “Manitoana” or the “Garden of the Great Spirit.” See 5th and 6th generation family cottages, a variety of wildlife, lighthouses and breathtaking views. Then, we continue to Toronto, our home for the next two nights. Breakfast Day Eight — Niagara Falls and Toronto In Niagara Falls we climb aboard the new Hornblower Niagara Cruises catamaran for a thrilling ride to the foot of the Niagara Falls. Feel up-close the power and majesty of the Falls from this remarkable vantage point. Back in Toronto we have a narrated tour of Canada’s most cosmopolitan city. See the unique City Hall building, Parliament Hill and the Chinatown district. Then, we soar to new heights as we are whisked away to the top of the famous CN Tower for a dramatic panoramic view and a delicious farewell dinner. Breakfast and dinner Day Nine — Return Home We bid farewell to Canada with a group transfer at 9:00 a.m. to Toronto’s Pearson Airport for flights out after 12:00 p.m. Breakfast
