Days One and Two — Travel to North Dakota Our Canadian Rockies adventure begins as we pass through Wisconsin and Minnesota with its 10,000 lakes. Moving on to North Dakota we spend the night in the capital city of Bismarck. Dinner and breakfast Day Three — Badlands and Big Sky The eerie terrain of North Dakota’s Badlands passes before us. These unique rock formations have become one of the state’s top attractions. We continue westward and enter the “Big Sky” country of Montana. Breakfast and dinner Day Four — Crossing the Continental Divide Montana’s name is from the Spanish word for “mountain,” and today we cross the sprawling ranges of the Continental Divide and arrive in the Christmas tree capital of Kalispell for the next two nights. Breakfast Day Five — Glacier National Park The splendor of the American and Canadian Rockies lies before us today. Montana’s Glacier National Park provides mile after mile of unspoiled scenery. There is much to marvel at in an ever-changing setting of fir-fringed lakes, isolated valleys and high mountain peaks skirted by deep green pines. We traverse the continental divide again via Going-to-the-Sun Road aboard an antique “Jammer” bus. This road, possibly the world’s most beautiful mountain road, offers views of the rugged McDonald Valley in a setting of glacial lakes, mountains and pine forests. Breakfast Day Six — Arrive in Jasper Leaving the United States today we cross into Canada get ready to explore the many superb sightseeing attractions that exist in Banff and Jasper National Parks. We pass Peyto Lake and reach a height of 6,675 feet at Bow Summit. We descend to Mistaya Canyon and Panther Falls and then pass through mountains that tower 10,000 to 12,000 feet. Our day of traveling ends amidst the breathtaking scenery of the mountain town of Jasper. Breakfast and dinner Day Seven — Maligne Lake Cruise Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Jasper National Park as we cruise Maligne Lake with its unparalleled vistas. Learn of the local history, geology, wildlife and glaciology of Maligne Lake and the park while taking in some of the spectacular scenery in the Rockies. This afternoon enjoy the beauty and serenity of Jasper. Breakfast Day Eight — Columbia Icefield and Banff National Park Today we board a Snocoach and venture out on to the Columbia Icefield. This phenomenon covers 150 square miles, and its melting waters flow into the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans. Savor magnificent views of the region as we continue along the parkway to Banff. Breakfast and dinner Day Nine — Lake Louise and Sulphur Mountain Our touring of the area begins with a visit to the icy, blue-green waters of Lake Louise where melt-water from Victoria Glacier carries silt and rock dust, giving the lake its beautiful turquoise color. Free time here to enjoy the awe-inspiring scenery and the grandeur of Chateau Lake Louise. This afternoon we board the Sulphur Mountain Gondola and are transported to an altitude of 7,500 feet for an incomparable view of the mountains. Breakfast and dinner Days Ten and Eleven — Saskatchewan and Manitoba Leaving Alberta we cross into the province of Saskatchewan, where the landscape is larger than life, the people down-to-earth and the cultural experiences authentic. Crossing into Manitoba, dinner and an overnight await. Breakfast and dinner Days Twelve and Thirteen — Traveling Home Crossing back into the United States our journey brings us to Minnesota where we gather for our farewell dinner, before arriving home with memories of our adventure in one of the world’s most beautiful areas. 2 Breakfasts and dinner
