Day One — Arrive in Southern California Welcome to the grand dame of parades, the 128th Tournament of Roses Parade. The Rose Parade features the beautiful pageantry and tradition of magnificent floral floats, high-stepping equestrians and spirited marching bands. For four nights we stay at the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel. Join your Tour Manager tonight for a welcome orientation. Day Two — Los Angeles Sightseeing Tour and New Year’s Eve Festivities Today a local guide joins us for a tour of Los Angeles and Hollywood. From the Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral to the new Disney Concert Hall, home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the tour is a blend of old and new. We also see the Hollywood and Highland Complex, Kodak Theater and the legendary Grauman’s Chinese Theater. Later we take a trip to the incredible J. Paul Getty Museum, a testament to the enjoyment and understanding of the visual arts. The museum contains a collection of Western art from the middle ages to the present and is one of the most visited museum in the nation. This evening we ring in the New Year with your newfound friends at a private New Year’s Eve gala event. Put on your dancing shoes as a live orchestra fills the room with sounds from yesterday and today. We enjoy a spectacular dinner and champagne toast to celebrate the dawning of a New Year. Breakfast and dinner Day Three — Construction of the Rose Parade Floats Today we go behind the scenes in Pasadena and watch as thousands of flowers from around the world are used to create the world’s most imaginative floats. During the final stages of preparation a variety of seeds, bark, fruits and vegetables, grasses and of course, flowers are being applied to the floats by experienced professionals as well as hard working volunteers. This afternoon has been left free for you to relax and enjoy California sun. Tonight, the evening is on your own. Breakfast Day Four — 128th Tournament of Roses Parade and The Queen Mary The event you came for is about to begin. We have reserved bleacher seats along Colorado Boulevard and after breakfast we depart for the Tournament of Roses Parade. View the animated floats, the precision of the marching bands and the equestrian teams as you become part of an event that is seen throughout the world by millions. If you wish, you could join us on an optional excursion to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Perched atop a hill with sweeping views of the southland, the Reagan Library chronicles his storied career that spanned more than five decades of a man who inspired Americans to achieve more than they imagined. Tonight, we are transported back in time aboard the legendary Queen Mary. Once the grandest ocean liner in the world, the Queen Mary is now a full-service hotel, historical landmark and fine dining venue. Enjoy a fabulous farewell dinner and gain a unique glimpse into a bygone era when steamships were the most regal way to travel. Breakfast and dinner Day Five — Homeward Bound Like all of our holidays, your transfer from the hotel to the airport is included for your flights home.
