Destination Spotlight: Multnomah Falls

March 26, 2015

Located along the historic Columbia River Highway, the beauty of Multnomah Falls will take your breath away when you feel the mist of the falls and stand in awe of the sheer magnitude of Oregon’s tallest waterfall, measuring at over 600 feet! The falls are split into two tiers. At the foot of the first tier, visitors can walk across Benson Bridge and look up at the top tier’s 542 foot height then peer down at the second tier’s 69-foot drop. As legend has it, Multnomah Falls was created to win the heart of a young princess in search of a private place to bathe. Viewing the falls is easily accessible. It is a mere 5 minute walk from the parking lot and also offers wheelchair-accessible viewing platforms. Many venture to the Benson Bridge which is a ¼ mile hike. When visiting, be sure to dress accordingly, as the mist creates a micro-climate within the viewing area and typically accounts for a decrease in temperature. However you choose to view Multnomah Falls, it is sure to amaze!
