Autumn Views

Autumn in the United States means the end of summer, shorter days and cooler temperatures. In that, it also means the breathtaking color change of the leaves on the trees. When normally green deciduous leaves (meaning they fall off) change color, this is called autumn foliage. This process occurs when daylight hours shorten and temperatures cool resulting in chlorophyll (which keeps leaves green throughout the summer months) breaking down and turning to shades of yellow, orange and red. Now, that being said, you should know that there is no predicting ‘the best date’ to view these fall colors. Typically, peak colors show in New England in mid-September and in the Midwest at the end of September or October. So, no matter where the road may be leading you this fall, make sure to see all of Mother Nature’s beauty!
