Day One — Arrive in Boston Arrive in Boston, Massachusetts with an included transfer to your hotel. Meet your Tour Manager in the hotel lobby at 6:00 p.m. for a welcome dinner. Dinner Day Two — Kennebunkport and Portland, Maine Traveling up the coast we stop at Kennebunkport, one of Maine’s coastal jewels and the summer home to many of America’s rich and famous, before making our way north to the seaside town of Portland, Maine. Rich in history and culture, Portland boasts a vibrant waterfront with one-of-a-kind shops, galleries and restaurants. After some free time for lunch and shopping we continue to the Bar Harbor area. Breakfast and dinner Day Three — Acadia National Park A local guide joins us today for a narrated tour through Acadia National Park. Learn firsthand why people have been drawn to the rugged coast of Maine throughout history. We ascend at the top of Cadillac Mountain, the tallest mountain on the U.S. Atlantic coast for some of Maine’s most breathtaking seascapes and panoramic views of beautiful wooded hillsides and rugged coast. We also make a stop at The Jordan Pond House, and if we are lucky we will hear the loud, thunderous “roar” of the waves crashing in the unique under-water cavern at Thunder Hole. Breakfast and dinner Day Four — Stephen King’s “Derry” and The White Mountains Before leaving Maine today, we make a stop in Bangor, Stephen King’s fictional town of “Derry.” Here, a local Stephen King “expert” guide joins us for a special tour of sites that pertain to the famed novelist. See where he lived and worked, places that inspired his stories and film locations from his movies. Later, we travel into New Hampshire’s White Mountains to the town of North Conway. Tonight, dinner in this quaint mountain town. Breakfast and dinner Day Five — The Kancamagus Scenic Byway and Quechee Gorge This morning we travel the Kancamagus Scenic Byway as it follows a beautiful path through the White Mountains. It is one of the world’s most spectacular fall-foliage trips, where a stunning spectrum of color underscores the region’s natural beauty year round. The road meanders through vast forests, old logging roads, and Indian hunting paths. We cross into Vermont where quaint villages with the steeples of white clapboard churches rise above the colorful trees. Later, we stop at Quechee Gorge to view the spectacular scenery of the area before arriving in Killington for the night. Breakfast and dinner Day Six — Norman Rockwell Museum and Mohegan Sun Leaving Vermont this morning we travel to the town of Stockbridge in Massachusetts’ culturally rich Berkshires region. At the Norman Rockwell Museum see the world’s largest collection of the artist’s original artwork. From his beloved paintings from The Saturday Evening Post and the Four Freedoms to the best in the field of American Illustration. We’ll spend some free time in the quaint Berkshire town of Stockbridge before continuing to the incredible Mohegan Sun Resort, our home for the next two nights. Breakfast Day Seven — The Essex Steam Train, Riverboat Becky Thatcher and Mystic Seaport The Valley Railroad Company operates the coal-fired locomotives of the Essex Steam Train. Be swept away by the hiss of the steam and the blast of the whistle as you pass through some of the most beautiful country in the state. See forests and streams, beautiful vistas and nostalgic towns. At Deep River Landing, you board the Riverboat Becky Thatcher for a relaxing trip up the Connecticut River, before continuing to Mystic Seaport. Here, discover maritime history firsthand in re-created seafaring village, working shipyard and historic maritime vessels. Breakfast and lunch Day Eight — Newport and The Breakers Mansion Entering the smallest New England state, we land in Newport, Rhode Island. This fascinating seaport is famous not only for its maritime history, but also for the fabulous summer homes built there during America’s glamorous “Gilded Age.” We visit Vanderbilt’s Breakers Mansion and get a glimpse of how America's most elite families lived at the turn of the century. Tonight, gather for a farewell dinner hosted by your Tour Manager. Breakfast and dinner Day Nine — Boston City Tour and Home This morning we take a brisk panoramic city tour of Boston, the birthplace of American Freedom, before our included group transfer to Boston’s Logan Airport for flights out after 2:00 p.m. Breakfast
